March 14th Nats board meeting

Judith, Kathy, Catherine, Judi, Billo, Cindy Lou, Lynn, Matchstick, Coop, Tim, Ken Schwartz, Michelle, Don No one, Joe, Tom C.

Matchstick part of show on Motor Trend.
They built Flintstone car, showed you can roll odometer back - at least on Earlies! crashed a Dodge van into water barrels to show something...

Matchstick voted in as alternate on Nats board in prior meeting...

May 1st deadline to order Nats board dash plaques...Tom offered to picked them up to save the $100 shipping
it is also go no go for grounds and Nats?

Plan is to final assemble trophies at ground, hope to all park in line and walk in to assemble and do that work but no access to camp inside gate till event opens officially

Joe gave the vender row to the hosts, Cinnamon or Nate to run actual vendors row.

All Nats board members need to be committing to being available for working gate as treasury backup rep.
Tim will send a sign up sheet, will work around show and shine time block

Lynn - we are selling shirts as well, so another sign up sheet for that needs to happen
Coop suggested to do for restricted hours, Matchstick gave his schedule...shifted an hour later as each day passed...
coop mentioned first day is busiest.....so most people for then
also do pre reg for next year booth at same time so one stop shop?
Will do 2 full page bible ads and sponsor trophies. Eagle, best of show??

Justin Gunther thinking of doing a magazine style bible? Comic book / magazine style

Discussion about when we will get confirmation of when they will confirm a go for Nats and a bit about insurance through fairgrounds also trying to be confirmed. Just 1 million liability coverage.

Then business card - discussed a template with a checklist of what to put on phone number, email add, Nats site, social media links etc.
Van nationals Instagram,
Cathy will do a mock up and send out sample with checklist of optional fields to be added from checklist

Next year flyer, who wants to advertise ? Would need 8-9 as far as room on it as well as finance of flyer production
Matchstick - we should do banners that are paid for, as well as digital based advertising. Should be more discussion on doing sponsorship instead of hard print on corner of Nats flyer
Maybe even offer sponsorship levels, even up to $1000 to sponsor a band etc.
Trophy sponsorship already starting at $50 so can build on that,
Like a retro 1st Nats tshirt, enamel pins for hats etc., a pre reg, Koozies,
Email your ideas to Judith

Coop suggesting a poster for each year’s event with Nats artwork and theme stuff as money raiser. (11X17 poster) like what Rat Fink or Moon eyes does?
Could sell or if cost low enough give them away.

Do trading cards for Flying eagle awarded Vans. 1000 Cards costs $30 so affordable
We need to also to define the list of winners through the years (Work with Virtual) and Coop to post on our site

2007 was first blue Father son award...

Matchstick - wondered about making Flying Eagle winners a club that current winners would present to the newest winner
going forward the winners get a nice spot to park, frosty cooler, etc to make winning like the masters club.

Lynn did report on work for keeping up our copyright rights and mentioning that the website is out of date and thus is not showing we are using terms and logos associated with Van Nats or van nationals, the nations premiere and the national truckin phrase
This makes it tough to prove to copyright board that we are using them
Coop will scan and send PDFs to Lynn and Billo who is also trying to get the website updated.....

Maybe grab and scan old Cof C bible ads....

Needs to be exact wordings - probably the virtual one would not qualify.
Matchstick - don’t spin too much on it - he is just trying get word / promotion out of creating a fight
Howard - young Vanners may not realize this east coast version is not our 50 year one
If their event goes bad people could come after Nats board thinking we are part of it?

Matchstick is pointing out that this guys is a blip and not to give him much energy.
Tim - any publicity is good for him so let’s not give him any time, IF we need to go after him we will
If his naming is East coast van nationals then we can not do anything anyway as we do not have that phrase in our control
(There actually used to be an eastern Van Nationals)

Donnie - about electrical boxes - Judith needs to be in call to determine these electrical boxes UL approved, Liable, how large or capabilities, how much
Struck down due to too high a liability risk !!

Joe - contract review, Joe has looked overall, found a number of paragraphs out of date. Committee of ken Billo and Joe to present a review and group to review online and work through updating.

Tim answered Lynn on question of how many preregistration so far - approx 200 pre reg.,

Next zoom meeting discussion: May1st is Saturday - will do next on Monday May 3rd, 8pm eastern time

Matchstick is now Rose - requests use of she or her as pronouns going forward please going forward.
Maybe Tommy next? As someone to get interested in support team participant?
He also mentioned that titles are really not the big thing, more the effort that speak volumes

Ken - his daughter and him are working to recruit young people to get on support team...
Will send any resumes into the board.

Tom stated he will follow up with Mothers to see if they will donate this year? (No due to COVID last year)
