Wacko, Coop, Tim, Dimples, Bill’o, Lew, Tom, Geoff, and Sonya, Gary Shoulders
Welcome guests: Joanne, Lynn, Bunny, Joe from Van NY,
Courtney and Matchstick were there to represent the younger generation
Minutes: Dispensed
with the reading of the min.
Van NY handed out the sample flyers. They got 5000 or each. They did two really nice flyers. One for shows etc. that give the info about what
happens at an event and one for vanners.
The theme will be Farm.
Everything is moving along well.
They will start selling pre-reg’s on Thursday and will give a patch for
those who pre-reg. They will be in the show field to sell pre-reg’s also. Tim mentioned that Van NY is doing an
excellent job especially in the light of the fact that they got a late start do
to the grounds change from their original proposal. Judith mentioned that she had been to look at
the original proposed site and with some work on the electric and the new
restrooms, which are to go in it, will be a good future site. Van NY said they are considering using the
outside the gate RV sites for RV and Pick-up trucks. They could be outside the main gate and just
come in through the gate. They would
have to pay $15. Per day per site, plus a gate fee. This is still under consideration.
Wacko showed us a flyer from the Nat’s in Australia and
explained the cost of sponsors. Most
sponsors pay upward of $500. to be on the flyer. They set up booths at car shows to sell
pre-reg’s and explain the sport.
Howard mentioned that Truck-in magazine was not going to be
here they are at Good Guys show in OH.
We will send pictures etc. It
would help if our event were not on the same weekend as the Good Guys. A fairly new Magazine called Drop Jaw will be
here to cove the show.
Treasures report: read and approved
Raffle ticket sales:
We need to get selling these tickets.
We must cover the prizes of $1200.00 and perhaps collect enough to cover
our shares of NY stock. Dave said that
we would not have a problem selling the tickets. He asked that we all try to get donations of
free Pre-reg’s from clubs as a further insensitive to purchase the
tickets. We will all be there by 5: on
Saturday night to sell the tickets, as this is the prime selling time. Note Dave was correct. We took $1330.00 after paying some expenses. Netted about $3900.00. We had about 20 Pre-reg’s and I have written
all of them a thank you note on our behalf.
Classification will be held at 10 am Thursday and Friday,
please all who can be there to get the job done.
Donnie said that there would be a two set DVD of last years
Nat’s that will be soon available. It
will have one DVD of pictures and the other of Video.
Criteria for becoming an Alternate: It has been suggested that those who wish to
join the Nationals Boardâ be asked to attend (at least 2) several of our meeting
to see if they are a fit and if this is really what they want to do.
Process for removal from the office of either Rep or
Alternate should be written in the by-laws.
The vote shall be by the 9 Reps only.
Howard noted that we all have different personalities but we are all
here for the same thing. To make sure
the Nationals are the best that they can be.
We must all be aware that you should wait before sending out mail as
sometimes what you say in an e-mail is not what you really mean. If you say the same thing in person it comes
over differently as you have body language and facial expressions to go along
with the words.
Rays survey: the
survey is ready to go. Ray and Teresa
will had it out and collect it this week and get back to us with the
results. There was one question on the
survey we didn’t feel should be there and that was motor homes at Nat’s.
How are we doing with the die cut for the stickers? Howard said that Matchstick can make the die
cut. Laser cut is the way most are going
now. We decided that the cost of the
die, which we would own, is the better way to go. We will have it ready for NY to use.
Light show score sheet?
Judith has a sample of the light show score sheet and award list that
she will put in as many vans during the light show as possible. Next year no running vans. This year they will try to separate the
running from the non-running vans. Tim
suggested that we buy a jump box to be given with the other items to the host
club for show and shine. Howard felt
that there is enough around that it was not needed.
Howard: Asked
Courtney and Matchstick how we can attract young people between 18-25 to come
to the Nat’s. Suggestions were. How to classes (Matchstick will be showing
how to weld. He is taking out his rear
windows and replacing them with metal).
Others how to mentioned were Paint, pinstripe and lights
Joe still needs some info for the Winner of the Nationals
best of Show trophy he is making and should have it ready for next spring with
or without all the info.
Coop would like to make a how to judge a van book.
