Show
and shine on Saturday? Is it possible? Coop yes, some people think the event is
over if the Show is on Friday, some leave.
Other comments: What about rain, if it rains on Friday you still have
Saturday, if you wait till Sat. you may have to judge in the rain. We have now
put so much on Saturday to make up for it not having the judging on Saturday,
things like parades and other van related things.. Steve said the Nat’s board has to judge if we
more to Sat. because the host would not have time. But what is the difference in man power
between Friday and Saturday?
Nothing. Wacko said that we all
pay to come to the event and we do quite a bit of work already that it would
not be fair to have us pay just like all the other vanners and have to do the
entire show. When you sign the contract
you need to have enough people to handle all the responsibilities.
The
comment was made that if you want to show you will get it there for the
show. The flyer comes out a year in
advance. That should be enough notice to
get the time off. Dave, we all get our
panty in a bunch about the Friday show we should not worry about the few more
we piss off. We already piss off enough
and you can’t please everyone . Tim, we should let it be advisement. Put it on the Flyer. What is the most important thing at the
event? Show and shine. The host can put it on any day they want. We just let them know that they will have
more time to get it right if they do it on Friday. Dave stated that the show is much more
refined and accurate since we do it on Friday, positive comments have proven
that the vanners are appreciative of the efforts we have made to make the show
better.
Steve want to talk about the Show and Shine Classes: wants to make a motion to get together a
trophy team together to see if we can we cut back the amount of trophies. He bought two for each class. Judith stated that we have given each host a
list of classes and how many vans were in each class for the last 6 years. We encourage each host group to look this
list over and just buy for the ones
that show each time and buy a few more trophies for those few vans who may show
up. Make the plaque for the trophy to
say something like Award of Excellence.
Don’t put a plaque on the trophy until it is needed. This way you can use the extras anywhere if
on one shows up in those classes but still be prepared if you do get a few new
attendees. She gave the list to Dennis
and Dennie Smith after last years event so that they would have it as
Chairpersons for van judging.
Dimples
wants to discuss the following items from the contract.
Item
13 on the medical plan. It is getting harder to find people at reasonable
prices to be there at the event. It was suggested that the local firefighter be
contact and work with them on a charity or let them do the vanners night in or
other food booth to make money for there unit.
They may them be more willing to work with the hosts. A motion was made
to change item 13 to read as follows.
ITEM 13. – The
medical plan adopted by the HOST CLUB, must be approved by the
NATIONAL TRUCK-IN BOARDâ, A minimum of 90 days .
Initials _____ _____ _____
This
was approved.
Item
14 . In the past they have never charged
the future hosts for the cover. This year they were asked to pay for the
cover. It turns out that VA charged OH
so OH charged IL and they just passed it on.
The page should be done as a service at not costs. Item 14 was changed to read
ITEM
14 - The outside back cover of the NATIONAL TRUCK-INâ bible must be reserved for, and list, next
year’s NATIONAL TRUCK-INâ information. This will be free of charge. approved
Steve Ashley: I would like
to add 1 short subject on the history of the nationals at our meeting
please? When Steve started vanning went
to a event that he thought was the National Truckin. He thought it was the real thing. And did not
find out until later that it is not considered as part of the Nationals. A lot of others also went and knew little if
anything about the split. We should not
try to erase the history. We need to
acknowledge the NSVA Nationals..
Comment: This is on the web page. If you click on the year for each
event you will find that both events were acknowledged with copies of the
flyers, t-shirts art and magazine articles that we were able to find. Coop and
Joe will work on getting the history updated.
Coop will deliver it to Judith by thanksgiving so that the history can
go on the web page
Ray’s report on the advertizing and sponsors for the National’s
Ray sent out 53 letter got one back. He also received 5 replies and 4 new contacts. He asked if he could get a good sponsor ship
what we could offer the Sponsor in return.

We will talk more about this in Feb.

Light show score sheet is to be ready for this year Nat’sâ.
If you have input please bring it so we can get one done in time for the
show. Coop and Howard will get with this
years light show person and we will make the sheet.
Howard. Stickers.
Mike from Ga. Asked
permission to sell the DVD from the OH Nat’sâ. He sent a check for $150. $100. for us and $50 for Va. Howard wants us to keep the money and send VA
a letter to say that the $50. was applied to their bill. A motion was made to that effect and passed.
We will send a thank you to Mike and encourage him to do it again.
Stickers: for about $300. we can buy the die for the USA window
sticker. It would have a place for
sponsorship. We can buy the die and the
future host can get sponsor for the sticker pay for the sticker and still make
a profits.
Coop made a motion that we buy the die and have it available to
the host club. It was seconded by
Howard. Size to be determined.
Raffle: The host are selling tickets for a peddle car
or cash if you can’t take the car home.
We need to support the event by buying tickets.
PA> the theme will be Van Camp.
Howard and Coop will do the judging seminar, Tim will teach useful food
art. And Judith will teach Ukrainian egg decorating. The flyers were passed out.
Will we do the replacement for Howards alternate now or in Feb as
we did the last time? The candidates so
far are Ton Chronister, Sonya Koome, Cathy Smith, Phil Martin, Bill
Seward. Dave thought we should open it
up to new candidates as well as the ones that have been here supporting
us. It was decided to take new
applications for future replacements but only choose from those who have been
waiting. Charlotte made note that Chooie
has not been at the last three meeting.
She will let us know before February if she will move back to full rep
or if she will stay as Alternate and if that is the case we will move one of
the other alternates into the spot.
During the weekend I spoke to both Charlotte and Chooie. Charlotte will go back as a rep and Chooie
will move to the Support Team and reapply when his situation changes.
Hello, the Chevy Uplander will be replaced either for the 2009 or
2010 model with the Chevy Traverse, see the link. It will be marketed as
a crossover, not a minivan. GM apparently plans to stop building real
minivans. Will this new Traverse qualify for Truckin entry? Can you
ask at Nat's board when you there?
here's the link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Traverse
trade mark. There is no â on one of Gypsies pieces of art. What are we going to do about it? We have gone to a lot of trouble to .maintain
the integrity of our trademark and it should be there.
Steve. Make a motion to go and inspect all of the
artwork for the event to make sure all were in approach Gypsy about this an get
it resolved. The outcome was that Gypsy
will put the â on the artwork compliance, We will give Gypsy the option to fix and if he does not we will
have to pull anything in violation. A vote was take and there was one
abstention. Coop, Tim and Dave will

Dave speed
channel. Recently Roger Moyles was on that program suggest that we invite him to attend and
cover that event. Send him mikes DVD so
he can see what it is like Dave will take care of that.
We a re about to
make a decision about an item that we
have not seen. We need to go see
it. If we do not approve of it he will
have to fix it. We need to give him a
copy of the contract item that states that we must approve all artwork
Sonya. It is a double
standard. If it works for him it ok if
it does not work for him is not ok
He could leave,
We
