National Truck-in Board Meeting
Hillsboro, Ohio
July 2002
We voted to dispense with the
reading of February 2002 minutes. The roster was passed around for updates.
Those present were Lynn, Rick, Howard, Charlotte, Joe, Coop, Ray Judith, Jim,
Ma, Cinnamon, Woodstock and Dave.
Old Business
1. Joe’s survey form Council of Council meeting
Joe will give it to Judith to
compile and put on the web page. Points Of interest form the survey were as
follows:
Do you think
the Nationals can be run like a regional truck-in where the money goes into a
treasury to be used next year? Yes
Would you put
trust in a Central group to handle the money? 60% yes Would you prefer the
Nationals in: Same place every year? No
Rotate at random like we do now?
Yes Three or four places per year? Perhaps
Would you pay $50.00 to attend
the Nationals? Majority said yes
Advertising Committee update:
Howard gas seen some of the
e-mails between Gomer, Lew and Jeanie and they are working some angles. Danny
Noone is doing a great job with 2003 Nat’s. He has gotten sponsorships from
Pabst Blue Ribbon beer and NAPA auto parts. He turned down Bud. We hope to have
him help us with the local sponsors to lead into more sponsorship at regional
events.
Update on 2002 Nationals
The SOVC is paying the police to
be at the date during the bands. They will not come further than the gate
unless requested by the hosts. The town has really co-operated, and we have
been in the paper several times. At this time, they have over 600 vans.
Kansas City
Howard and Rick have been to the
grounds and they look good. Hard Core has been working hard to raise money for
the eVANt. They have a lot of sponsor ships. There is an A/C building to have
the band in and possibly a run around the new NASCAR track.
Treasures Report
We voted to send the treasury
report to the councils so that all can see where we spent the money. We made
$631.00 on the quilt raffle. This will go toward ads and sponsorship at next
year’s eVANt.
Any New York updates?
Dave feels that we will have a
break down on NY by Feb. We just want to see what all went wrong to help future
host to stay out of the same pitfalls. We know that major expenses were
incurred due to the necessity of moving the eVANt. 3 times. We also realize
many individuals lost personal money hosting the eVANt.
Web Page:
Coop had all but 3 of the 30
flyers for the page. Joe hopes to get him the other 3 so that the flyers can be
posted on the Web. Rascal has promised to get his personal info to Geoff.
New Business:
Joe feels that we should host
the 2004 Nationals. We need to come to St. Louis ready to do the eVANt. He has
a lot of good ideas for the eVANt. Marshal MI has made many improvements and he
feels as if we could put on a good event there. Coop, Lew and I have seen the
site and agree. Ma feels that we would have to be careful since the town
surrounds the Fairgrounds. If we put the bands in the new A/C building, we
should be OK. Desperado wants us to go on line to WWW.Poppymauntainbluegrass.com and look at this as a possible site. we have all
committed to do something for the eVANt. Here is the list. If you have changed
your mind let us know.
These committees were set up in 99:
Chairperson Judith
Treasurer Lynn
Pre-reg Rascal
& Cinnamon
Games Charlotte
Art, show & Shine, trophies
bible Coop
Vendors, bible and ads Joe
Ins and bands Howard
Security & gate Desperado
Bible & male contest Judith
First aid,
Port-o-Johns, ice showers, garbage Rick Goodie bags Lew
Coop feels that if we host the
Nat’s we may never get another bid. The question was asked are we ready to take
on that responsibility. We are down at least 3 % each year. OHIO is the only
one that breaks 500 vans.
Rick
announced that he has a new alternate. He is Rick Kenny. Howard will get us his
address etc. He will be a good asset to the group. Others mentioned that they
were looking at new Alternates and would get back to us with the results of
their search
In the future
all Alternates who attend the meetings will have a say and a vote in what goes
on.
We closed
with a request to really feel those out around us to see whom we can get to
help us host a Nationals and get feedback for the Feb. Meeting. If you hear of
any bids, please keep all of us informed.
Respectfully
